PAS 5000 is the BSI specification for fixed indoor trampoline parks: design, construction, operation, maintenance and inspection in one document. Published in 2017, it emerged directly from the sector's early injury record, when ambulance callout figures (we've collected the data) pushed operators, RoSPA and the HSE to define what a properly run park looks like.
What it covers
The headline areas: court design and impact zones, foam pit construction, safety briefings and court monitoring, user separation by size and session, staffing levels, daily and periodic equipment inspections, and incident recording. A PAS is a specification rather than a full British Standard, and compliance is voluntary in the strict legal sense. In the practical sense it isn't: insurers ask, IATP membership expects it, and a park defending an injury claim without it has volunteered to explain why it ignored the sector's own benchmark.
Living with it
PAS 5000 compliance is mostly an operating rhythm: the daily court walk, the monitor rota, the briefing every session, the logged inspection trail.
