The renewal cycles venues run (commonly every three years) are policy and insurer expectation, not statute, which makes tracking them your job rather than the government's. The DBS Update Service lets an employer re-check a subscribed certificate's status online at any time for a small annual fee per person, which turns a weeks-long wait into a same-day check for new starters.
